Brand Refresh & E-Commerce Design

NEW STYLE TO AN EXISTING BRAND
by Wendy Van Ryn
Contracted as the Lead Designer, I collaborated with the Chief Creative Officer and development team to enhance the brand and shopping experience of the Clairebella website.
Clairebella offers a variety of personalized gift products. From home décor to tech gear and office supplies, every item can be customized with a monogram or name. On-trend patterns set the tone for the brand, which is distinctly feminine.
MY PRIMARY TASKS
- Brand styling ideas
- Research UI/UX enhancements
- Navigation organization
- Develop site styling concepts
- Page layout design
The image below is a partial representation of the research I provided.
One of the goals for the Clairebella brand was to update the way in which products were styled and photographed for the site. Products on PDP / thumbnail grid pages would be represented on a plain background, but PLP / category images could have additional styling.
I researched options to show products in a variety of contexts, both in use and artfully styled.
UI / UX ENHANCEMENTS
At the time of this project, several on-trend e-commerce sites had integrated the ability to change the page layout with the click of a graphic. One view would show a traditional product listing / thumbnail page, and the other a “mixed grid” or hybrid grid page, scaling items according to various factors (relevance / bestseller rank, etc.) This was one idea researched for Clairebella.
Ideas to engage the user contextually were also presented. One of these was to integrate a page or module with a seasonal or distinct design trend and showcase top-selling/ editor’s pick products. Each could be selected within the environment and directed to the PDP page.
